What we're doing around the world
The Saiga Conservation Alliance currently works in the three countries where over 95% of saigas are found - Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. And our campaign on behlf of saigas continues internationally.

In Russia
Our Russian team includes the Centre for Wild Animals in Kalmykia, the only successful captive breeding centre for saigas in the world. We coordinate educational programmes for children, carry out anti-poaching work and monitor saiga breeding success. Through our "rotating cow" scheme in local villages, poor households which agree to conserve saigas receive a cow to feed their family. Firstborn calves are given to new families.
In Kazakhstan
We monitor saiga populations every year to determine whether conservation actions are working. Our social surveys help describe who is poaching and why. These studies are used by governments and other organisations to help plan their interventions.
In Uzbekistan
We're carrying out social and ecological surveys in Uzbekistan to build understanding of the problems faced by saigas, and have successfully negotiated a consensus and a plan for action between the government and local people. Funding will put these plans into action! To donate click

Worldwide
We publish a twice-yearly bulletin about saiga conservation in six languages - accessible to everyone interested in saigas. Saiga News is read in remote villages in Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan; by horn consumers in China; international policy-makers;conservationists and the larger worldwide community. This newsletter makes sure we can all stay connected and share our experiences and ideas. Click
