The CMS COP9 Saiga Adoption Programme

At the CMS 9th Conference of the Parties, which is being held from 1st - 5th December 2008 in Rome, 125 delegates have been awarded saiga adoption certificates as a memento of the conference. These adoptions have been presented in asociation with the Saiga Conservation Alliance, and the money raised will go towards one of our projects, the Stepnoi Sanctuary in Russia. To read more about the Sanctuary's work please click here, and to read about their work constructing an ecological trail to boost ecotourism to the region, which was a successful entry to our Small Grants Competition in 2007, click here.
The SCA would like to thank the CMS for its ongoing support, and the Italian Ministry for the Environment, who funded these adoptions. We would also like to thank those of you who have adopted a saiga as part of the conference. If you would like your name added to this page in recognition of your contribution to saiga conservation, please email us. Please also say if you would like to be added to our mailing list, so you can keep up to date with the latest progress from all our saiga projects.
We would be very pleased to hear from any delegates who would like to continue their support for either the Stepnoi Sanctuary or the SCA in general. We are constantly seeking funding to produce Saiga News, our bi-annual newsletter that is translated into six languages, as well as for our Small Grants Programme, which awards grants to grassroots conservationists to carry out small, focussed saiga projects of up to $2,000. If you would like to discuss either of these options with us, please email us. Alternatively, to give a one-off donation to the SCA, please click here.
